Title: Illustrated Book on Koans
Post by: jura on September 05, 2013, 02:15:46 am
Hi

I have had fun finding Koans over the last few years and exploring them through my painting. I understand that the response to a Koan is a personal one and it is perhaps unhelpful to influence other peoples responses. However, the paintings I have produced to some degree show how the response can be formless and not deeply analytical. They are a simple emotional response, and like the Koan, do not demand an explanation. They are what they are, inspired by the Koan.

I am desperate for some feedback, as I live in a remote part of Scotland. I have made the paintings into an E Book which is free to download.

The link is http://www.portraits-paintings.co.uk (http://www.portraits-paintings.co.uk)

Any comments, good or bad, are welcome!

Best Wishes

Jura

Sadhu!

Thanks for your generous share here!
Not so much into Koans, there are plenty everywhere but it give much rise to mudita and to say ANUMODANA when a generous deed is done.

Let us share your merits and multiply them!

(Just saw... do you have an other possibility to share further, as some are not so into E-books and new stuff. Is it possible to share a pdf?)

I would like to see more too. The idea of a visual manifestation of the ineffable seems very worthwhile . . . many thanks

Thank you for the gift, Jura.

Koans usually make my head and teeth hurt.  These were beautiful, enjoyable, and tutorial.

This reminds me of my father's cool little book title of which is Zen Flesh, Zen Bones. Stories seem the same. I loved this book. It always made me very happy. <3

Hi Wingmen

I just looked up Zen Flesh, Zen Bones which appears a lovely and well researched book. I hope my visualisations of some of these koans introduces a new angle.

Working on a PDF for anyone to download...

Best wishes

:namaste: Thank you for sharing, I like the rugged representation which allows the mind to see both what is there and what is not quite there but inferred. The feeling of these is very nice!
