Title: Walt Whitman: a bodhisattva?
Post by: a-skier-bows-to-the-dharm on January 20, 2016, 06:52:17 pm
What do you think?
I found my way back to Whitman recently. He is called a visionary poet, but I think he had the vision of a Bodhisattva.

"My spirit has pass'd in compassion and determination around the whole earth,
I have look'd for equals and lovers and found them ready for me in all lands,
I think some divine rapport has equalized me with them.
...
You waters, I have fingered every shore with you.
..."

This quote is truly lovely. Makes me want to investigate more of his writing.
