I was at a group meditation about a week ago, and we talked alot about mindfulness and how to use it to control emotional responses from simple annoyance to outright anger and hate. Many members seemed to be combining mindful awareness with the Hua-tau (maybe I spelled it wrong), asking "who is this that is angry/sad/ hurt" (add emotional response of your choice). It was working for many folks, and it has worked for me in the past. In the moment, it can really defuse a great deal of explosive responses, recalling the situations later on the cushion in the same manner, with a calmer mind, can lead to rather profound realizations.
