On a past life
« on: October 02, 2018, 05:00:10 am »
So when i was younger i had a vision of a past life as the culmination of work with a "guru" and his energy practices ie: like qi gong. This visions authenticity was confirmed to me by some information that was "pointed out" to me in a book shop by a being i use to channel (the picture of an eye was superimposed over my vision to point to a specific book which talked about the gnostics).

So the "memmory" in my view is authentic. Hard to prove objectively i admit but from my view i am certain.

My question was in that past life i was a gnostic christian priest...a branch of chrisitianty that believed in reincarnation etc. Would it be a mistake to look into getting involved in a gnostic group in this life ? Or should i just say to myself "that was my past life" i am no longer that person and my yearning for information on gnostic meditation practices etc is unhealthy?

Why do i feel a yearning for revisiting gnostic practices? Should i just trust my feelings on this matter?

Does the buddha talk about information gleamed about past lives in the suttras at all?

In the past life vision i saw a meditation practice of focussing on the flame of a candle so i know they used meditation techniques btw.

Yes, but I can't give you chapter and verse.  He taught that when he gained enlightenment he saw all of his past lives.  The Jataka Tales recount various past lives of the Buddha.

It's generally taught that only a Buddha can see past lives.

My, how ........ whatever.

But tell us, apart from Buddhas, and Shirley MacLaine, then, who else can see past lives?

I used to have this sense that I had been a camp follower in the army of Alexander the Great in a past life.  My meditation instructor told me it was "just a thought".  I also have a sense that after this body dies, I'll take birth as an intestinal parasite.  I must have wicked bad karma to be doomed to a lifetime residing in a sentient being's colon.  :lmfao:
