Questions
« on: June 01, 2014, 03:23:07 pm »
Hello.  My name is Alicia Boyd and  I am a college student. I have an assignment requiring I interview a person of spirituality and faith to better understand his or her religious experience. I was wondering if perhaps someone on this forum would be interested in helping me.  Thank you.

Hi Alicia,
I believe all of our friends here have his/her experience to share. But somehow we need some privacy, hence we use our handles here. Besides, this is the Buddhist forum, and showing off is not a good manner for any good Buddhist. :-)
So I recommend that you should tell us more about your interview. Give us an example of your questions, can we still be anonymous? Are you interested in Buddhism or general spirituality? What is the purpose of this interview? etc.
The better way is you should read the posts here and decide by yourself which one you are interested and contact her/him via personal message.
I’m telling you all this just because I cannot be one of candidates because English is not my native language. And you need someone else here, not me. :-)

Thank you very much for your honesty and concern.  I certainly desire to respect all the members' privacy and beliefs.  The class I am taking is looking at different religions and how faith and spirituality develop for individuals based upon beliefs, community, and spiritual practices.  Below is a list of the questions.  If someone would like to answer them, he or she may email me the answers rather than posting them to the forum.  My email address is alicia.boyd2002@yahoo.com.  I appreciate your time and consideration.  I hope you all have a wonderful day.

How does religion affect your daily life? Are there regular rituals or practices that are important to you? Are there more infrequent rituals that you practice?

Describe your experiences with your religion.  What does your religion mean to you?

Have you always been a member of that religion?  What were your religious experiences like as a child & young adult.

How have your beliefs changed over time, and how have they remained constant?

If you experienced a conversion, or a crisis of faith, would you say more about this?

What do you find rewarding about your religion?  What do you “get” from it?

What is the role of emotion in your religious life & experiences?

What was the most powerful religious or spiritual experience you have had? (I realize that this is quite personal, and you may prefer not to share such an intimate experience with strangers. Don’t feel obligated to do so!)

What are the expectations, if any, that the religion makes of you in terms of resources such as time and money, and in terms of behaviors & attitudes? Is there something about your religion that is difficult for you?

Why are you committed to this religion? What are the distinctions you make between organized and personal elements of your religious life?
