Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
« on: July 17, 2010, 04:59:40 pm »
I heard via another forum that Kelsang Gyatso may have suffered a stroke.

Some of the moderators here are NKT students so do any of you (or anyone else) know more about this?

Which forum was this ?
Rumours are Rumours some lovely person said the same thing 2 years ago but it turned out to be a lie.
If there is cancelation of The brazil festival this would be an indicator however seeing as it is still on i think it again is probley just another person with a over active imagination.
A man sees the rope in the twilight he mistakenly apprehends a snake and develops fear. To remove this fear he must remove the mind apprehending a snake by realizing that there is no snake. Even then, if the rope is left in the same place there is a danger that the same mistake will be made in the future. The only way to remove this danger is to remove the rope. Similarly, sentient beings observing their aggregates in the darkness of their ignorance mistakenly apprehend an inherently existent I. This mind grasping at an inherently existent I is the root of samsara and the source of all fear. To remove the fears of samsara we must remove this mind by realizing that there is no inherently existent I.

This may be a rumour, but maybe also a reminder to practise the OM SOTI Prayers for the Long Life of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, composed by Trijang Rinpoche, his root guru and root guru to the Dalai Lama.

Copies are available free from Tharpa Publications asa  booklet.  It is also available as a colour poster:

Should you wish to recite it now, the poster is readable on the link.

I did a few google searches and could find no conformation of this report.  Idle rumors, I suppose.

My only connection with the Geshe is reading his translation, Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life.  I hope he is hale and happy.
