9,000 Nepalese Refugees Face Deportation

The Buddha was born in Nepal, and he looked like these law-abiding refugees who now face deportation. May they be happy and safe.

It's kind of a shame but the orders allowing their visas was never intended to be premanent.  These Nepalis could never have stayed in the US permanently unless they secured citizenship while here.

That may be true, but it appears that Trump is cancelling an extension on their refugee status that was put in place by Obama, simply because it was Obama who extended it.

You're probably right about the reasoning and it stinks.  On the other hand, it wasn't supposed to be permanent and people with refugee status can apply for citizenship.  If they don't, well, they just SOL and they have to go home.  Personally, I think they should be allowed to stay, but that's just me and not the law.
