Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har

For those of you who might not recall the cartoon characters mentioned in the title of this thread, the intro footage below might stir one's memory:

! No longer available

Although I never saw these characters when they originally aired, they became a common staple of my childhood when rebroadcasted in syndication, along with the other Hanna-Barbara classic characters.

The reason that these memories came flashing back is because of a current event unravelling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where the intro song popped up with a little chuckle due to sightings of a lion casually strolling down a suburban street without a care or worry, later followed other sightings of apparently the same lion, but this time with its cub trailing behind it nonchalantly:

! No longer available

Such sightings are not uncommon within Wisconsin history, not only due to the State's liberal regulations when it comes to exotic pets, but also because of Wisconsin's rich history as the homeland of the American Circus --- with that said, the most disheartening aspect of this story is the potential of some trigger-happy police officer unloading his assault rifle without giving the wildlife officers the opportunity to use tranquilizer guns.

Strangely enough, there have been no reports of domestic animals being attacked or anything, well, with the noted exception of a dog that got shot when some fool mistook it for the lion:

This actually makes me long for the innocence of childhood, where you really didn't need to worry about much of anything, other than those pesky phantom kangaroos that would pop up throughout the Midwest --- those were the good old days:
