Techno Buddhist
« on: June 24, 2013, 02:48:43 am »
On my desktop computer I use Puppy Linux
Sometimes I update this software for Puppy
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/BuddhistYAP

Most of my online time with Buddhists I use an Ipad.

However for an online Zendo I need to find the charger for my Linux net book.

Are we all Buddhist Geeks these days?

Holy Brahma I hope not! The standard review of BG (Wiki) is, they place an "emphasis on the use of the latest communications and other forms of technology as a means of supporting Buddhist practices and disseminating Buddhist views." which means (as I take it) they are not really interested in the content of what exactly is being communicated. This leads me to say that many of their guests remind me of "life coaches" (BORING!) who dabble in all kinds of stuff which has very little to do with the discourses of the Buddha.

Overall, Buddhist Geeks sucks needs content. Okay, I know people will disagree and say BG has content. Really? What is it as far as unpacking the teachings of the Buddha is concerned? If I see an other Geek podcast in which some dude is talking about awareness I am going to Leon's and order a Fernet cocktail to clear my head of the geeky dendrite contamination.

The Ipad is easier but you will need time to get used to a different way of working . . .
