Public teaching - Oxford (UK) 9 Oct
« on: September 27, 2010, 01:28:23 am »
My Guru, Rigdzin Shikpo Rinpoche, is to give a public teaching on 9th October in Oxford.

The calling notice says:

KARMA: WORKING WITH OUR WORLD

Karma means action. It encompasses all the actions we do with our body, our speech, our mind. We shape our world by the attitudes and actions we have created and performed.

What we do is important because it produces results that radiate into the future affecting ourselves and everyone. These results return to us like images in a mirror.

Our actions give rise to the world around us and it is within that world of actions that we live our lives. There are many wrong ideas about karma and its results. This day will help to clarify the nature of karma and show how it can help us to understand our world in a meaningful way.

“Karma does not only apply to individuals but also to groups where the individuals are bound together by some overarching principle. In order to benefit both ourselves and others we need learn to see the boundaries between our individual actions and the actions that we take as part of the group dynamic.”

Rigdzin Shikpo Rinpoche

Although this is a public talk, it will be infused with a Vajrayana / Dzogchen 'flavour', so can act as a first connection with the path leading to Dzogchen, and with this wonderful Western Nyingma yogin.

If anyone is intending to go, it would be nice if, as well as registering with Dolly, you could send me a PM.

No, I fear not. We can't run to that - yet. But there should be a video available afterwards.
