Community Exchange
« on: September 09, 2010, 01:19:19 pm »
I just found out that a community exchange or "time bank" is building up in my town. It's basically a "pay it forward" system. If you help someone or "sell" something to them, you get an agreed amount of virtual credits that you can spend to buy help or stuff from anyone else that has signed up. The great thing is that it's not dependend on the economy of the participants and everybody have something to offer!

It'll be interesting to see if the system works. I saw that others had offered services like babysitting, car rides, help with fixing parties, temporary lodging and "dinner and company". I decided to offer computer repair, lending a hand for just about anything and borrowing our utility trailer. It seems like a great way to meet new, open-minded people also!

Maybe there is a community exchange near you, or maybe you'd like to start one?

My actions are my only true belongings.
I cannot escape the consequences of my actions.
My actions are the ground on which I stand.
What would Buddha do?
