A buddha remains actively engaged in enlightened activity to liberate beings for as long as samsara remains.

I believe this refers to the Dharmakaya, rather than the historical Buddha who passed away into final Nirvana 2,500 years ago.

While the historical buddha lives and dies, the Dharmakaya or cosmic buddha endures forever.

I believe that all the celestial buddhas and bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism are symbolic of the one Dharmakaya.
