Regarding Trungpa, I think he may have been sexually promiscuous.

Y' think?  I honestly can't say he was "promiscuous".  Yes, he definitely liked the ladies and they seemed to like him.  Yes, he was married and had his affairs and so did his wife (good for the goose....).  How many?  We'll never know.  The fact that he did these things was common knowledge both inside and outside the sangha, so there was never really any "scandal"  There was only approval or disapproval.

Just the same, and regardless, he posessed a certain charisma that drew students to him. He truly loved them and they loved him back. He also had a genius for teaching the Dharma in the West.  He took in everything and made it practice.  That genius extended to community, what he started has survived and the love and devotion his students found for him still lingers.

If the Dharma he transmitted is alive and well, if people's practice is developing, the afflictions are being purified and realizations being achieved, then it's all that matters.  The proof is in the sphere of Dharmakaya, not here at the level of ordinary minds.

Well said, Gib!

I have been fortuanate to have been practicing in  Colorado for over 10 years.  I knew many people, personally, who were students of Trungpa's.  I sat in teachings and read the writings of several more.  From a practice POV these folks are simply amazing.  Thanks in no small measure to Trungpa's teaching.

So, no problem there!  As to people talking, let them talk.  This time and place is challenging for practice anyway, so whoever manages to do it reaps good rewards.

Another thing, a true teacher is never really gone, so if CT was one he is still teaching directly in his students' minds.
