How buddhists treat other buddhists
« on: July 31, 2016, 01:09:40 pm »
Hello.
I've been wondering and doing some research but I didn't manage to read anything about the subject.

I know that people in some other religions call each other "brothers". In buddhism, does this happen? Do buddhists(or specifically buddhist monks) have a word to treat co-religionaries(maybe, even, "brother")?

I think there's a more teacher-student relationship among buddhists as Buddha was a teacher and the title comes from the word Bodhi, which means knowledge/intellect. Does anyone else agree?

Some people refer to sangha members as dharma brothers or sisters.  An example that comes immediately to mind is Thich Nhat Hahn's community.
