Just to ask why the Chat logs you out when you are busy typing for only a short while.

And why it also sends Chat posts of any length into the Bardo!

The world needs my wisdom !

maybe the Chat bot know better! LOL Smiley

As an administrator, this particular chat is driving me up the wall with the timeouts... I'll see if Wonky and I can't determine some solution to the problem.

I have checked different things.
There was this IPcheck parameter that could cause problems, but it was OK. Then there was this sessions save file location that could be problematic but that was also OK. I doubled the timeout value from 2 minutes to 4 minutes, but I don't think that this is the problem either. Then there are three possible causes left (might be more though):
1. You might have a bad connection
2. Your computer won't allow the chat to set a cookie and then the chat doesn't recognize you and boots you
3. Our host is overloaded

We'll have to continue our investigations. It might be possible to find another chat solution, but I think it would be best if it would be one that we can connect to our user database so that no one can login with someone else's username.

It could be a cookie issue, but it happens whenever I type more that a couple of lines of text, which is weird. The rest of the site stays up and works fine.

Thought others might be getting the same problem.

Not something to worry about too much, though.  I'll just hit the return key more often. LOL Smiley

I changed a cookie setting to see what happens.

Hi, Wonky.

Just ran a test with no problems using entries with several lines of script.  My search engine/ Internet access software was Internet Explorer.  Tried last night about two in the morning with similar results.  Didn't know about the multi-line issue then, so tried to address that there.

Suggestion is to ask folks to list their Internet Access software when reporting.

I had this problem the first couple of times. Nothing of late though. I use Chromium.

If you are looking into other chat options, flashchat by tufat.com is quite good and can be fully integrated into an smf forum, quite easily too. It is good for sites that don't have huge hosting plans as it doesn't use up many resources and seems to work well for anyone.

Used Chromium this morning with no problem.  Well, one problem.  I reported my experience in another forum (Tech) because I couldn't remember where this one was. Wacky
