Entering the forum - winter solstice music
« on: June 05, 2013, 03:50:13 am »
Hi from barcelona (spain). My name is Albert and I'm doing a homework for my music studies, about the music for winter solstice in other countries and cultures in the world. I just want to know from you if you can help me, if you can tell me if there's a specific music, dance, soncs, lyrics or something related with traditional music with this celebration (winter solstice) in your culture. You can even help me telling me a title, a link, etc... or a thread I could pull and find further information on the web.

All the respect and appreciation for letting me write here.

Many thanks
Albert

You might try the other forum I'm on, www.violinist.com, a bit more music related.
to me, the signs of a successful practice are happiness and a cessation of suffering, buddhism often gives me this; not all the answers.

In Theravada Buddhism, there are no important celebrations in December. Some groups have started a day of appreciation of women in Buddhism, it corresponds to the full moon in December.

In Zen Buddhism, they celebrate "Buddha's Enlightenment Day" at the end of December. You might want to research those festivities.
