Hello from Finland
« on: June 22, 2017, 09:29:58 am »
Hey. I decided to join the forums as I've long been interested in zen-buddhism and am looking for motivation to start sitting again. I'd love to hear experiences about zazen and get inspired by others stories.
I'm also interested in the spiritual side of physical exercise. It is quite difficult for me and often painful. I have an idea that it might be a ritual for me to affirm the truth that life is suffering.

Thanks for this great board and I hope to have a good time here.

It is wrong to say 'life is suffering'. It would be correct to say that suffering is inevitable in life. And thus, joy is inevitable, too. Opposites can't exist without each other. Right can't be defined without left. Either both exist or none of them.

Having said that, what you consider as 'suffering' or 'joy' is both up to you. Joy is what you think it is. Suffering is what you think it is.

Another Finn here! Yay! What part of Finland are you from? I'm originally from the Tampere region but now live and study in Oulu.
