Hi Jechan.  Having been here for nearly a month, I find I am a seasoned vet!   It seems like a friendly place, with lots of our old buddies from e-sangha trickling in, but also new faces I didn't meet there.  FS is still small, which certainly has its merits.  It's easy to get to know almost anyone who is fairly active after a few logins.

I join the others here in saying we hope to hear more from you in the coming weeks and months.

Welcome!

Best wishes,
heybai

But they see a free individual, it's gonna scare 'em."

Glad to meet someone from my ancestral regions.  My Maternal Grandmother was Welsh.

Look forward to reading your words.

Greetings.
A man sees the rope in the twilight he mistakenly apprehends a snake and develops fear. To remove this fear he must remove the mind apprehending a snake by realizing that there is no snake. Even then, if the rope is left in the same place there is a danger that the same mistake will be made in the future. The only way to remove this danger is to remove the rope. Similarly, sentient beings observing their aggregates in the darkness of their ignorance mistakenly apprehend an inherently existent I. This mind grasping at an inherently existent I is the root of samsara and the source of all fear. To remove the fears of samsara we must remove this mind by realizing that there is no inherently existent I.

Welcome! It's always nice to see a new face. Maybe we need to start a map of where our members are in the world. The global reach of FreeSangha is growing!

:namaste: Hello, I used to post on the e-sangha chat once in a while. Nice to find another Buddhist forum up and running. I am a solitary learner, unaffiliated in a formal way with any particular lineage. My first introduction to Buddhism was many, many years ago when I heard His Holiness the Dalai Lama give a talk at Syracuse University Bailey Hall. I was much impressed by his ability to present  clear thoughts, by his good, high spirit, by his genuine good will, and by his humble demeanor. Very clear he seemed to me and so real and solid.  I find little in other traditions that speaks to me so thoroughly (well, a little Taoism). I am a life-time used and antiquarian bookseller by trade and avocation.  - Boodust

Boodust, I am glad you have come to join us here at FreeSangha. Sometimes I introduce myself as an unaffiliated practitioner. It is a lot easier than trying to explain that I am a dhamma hussie, gladly reading whatever I can get my hands on...

My friend, so you just think you can sneak in here and join the forum without letting me know, not even a PM to let me know what the cat dragged in? LOL
