Hi thank you for welcoming me in your forum.

I am working for an NGO in Nepal  Siddhartha Foundation  http://www.khenpo-parrainage.org

and I try to find sponsors for 75 tibetan lamas

Linda

Hi Steven? or Linda?
Are you looking for sponsors for Lamas?
Are these Lamas men or WOMEN?
Well, just to let you know ....
I was sponsoring a male Tibetan Buddhist monk for eleven years,
up till last month (my already tiny income has been halved, can do no more just now).
But, as soon as I can sponsor again I will sponsor a WOMAN to become a fully ordained nun.
During my time in Buddhist education I have become over-sensitive maybe, with all the attention
going to males and monks, be it in reality, or in prayers.
I lived in a wonderful Buddhist Center, and will be for ever grateful for having had that experience,
most of all because a resident, highly accomplished senior Tibetan Rinpoche lives there, and that
is unusual, because Rinpoches usually travel much.
So, I being 'new' at the time to living and working in a Tibetan Buddhist Center,
was made aware of the fact that in India many Tibetan -monks- desperately needed a sponsor, etc.
Sure, I was glad to help a Tibetan monk-refugee out.

BUT, what about nuns??????
I wasn't asked to sponsor a nun!
I will be frank.
As soon as it is possible I will sponsor a Mahayana nun.
Believe it or not, I am sick and tired of world wide, all pervading -unbridled- patriarchy. Period.
Good luck with finding sponsors!

hello all,

My name is sam and I am new here.  I used to be a regular at some other forums.  My tale is long and my journey filled with changes, so I won't go into it right now.  I hope that some will get to know me well enough to hear about it in my posts and stuff.

my interests:  monasticism, translation, Vajrayana, zen, Theravada.

Hi all,
I'm very new to both this forum and the idea of Buddhism. At long last I am attending meditation classes here at the Buddhist training centre in Canberra, and it has fired my enthusiasm in discovering more about this peaceful way of living.

Learning meditation is one of those things from my bucket list that I have promised myself for quite a while, and I was told that learning to meditate may well lead to a greater interest in Buddhism and this seems to be the case.

Very happy to have found this forum, hopefully I can get answers to various questions that I'm sure will come up as I continue on this voyage of discovery.

Regards and best Chris  http://www.freesangha.com/forums/Smileys/default/sage.gif

Hello Chris 59 :-)

I'm a n00b to this forum too, but hey, welcome.

Meditation is ace.  I was a wreck until 2009 when I started meditating, now I am not!
