Monkey Mind here
« on: November 23, 2009, 12:31:58 am »
Glad to see some activity here. I was a lurker on e-sangha, I never posted but read much.

I learned that Dhamma/ Dharma was intended to be non-sectarian and secular, so that is how I practice. I am a fan of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, Ajahn Brahm, Ajahn Chah, S.N. Goenka, and Pema Chödrön. I used to practice Aikido and T'ai Chi, and hope to return to these. I view Aikido to be a physical form of metta meditation, and T'ai Chi to a physical form of insight meditation.

Hello Monkey Mind! Welcome!

I also practice Aikido. I've thought about starting with Tai Chi, but right now I have too much else to do. Maybe when the kids are a bit older...
My actions are my only true belongings.
I cannot escape the consequences of my actions.
My actions are the ground on which I stand.

;) I don't do the whole hiding shindig. Thanks, I keep getting compliments everywhere I go on the hair lol! For a while I went all brown, like close to my natural color, but I just don't feel rightly ME without something in there like pink or purple or green. :) And I work in a restaurant, my bosses don't care. :) (Hooray jobs during university!)

Hi, and welcome to the forum! I believe all forms of Buddhism are expressions that fit different minds.  I do very much appreciate the authors/teachers you mentioned, they are good sources for learning.   With everyone's contributions we will make this a peaceful board with lots of life and sparked discussion.

Thank you for joining!
