So I'm new here...
Very new to Buddhism in fact...

I'm not really sure what it is that attracts me to Buddhism, iv never really been a religious person as such, but over the past few years I have been really interested in Buddhism, no specific teaching, just Buddhism in general. It's been something I have wanted to become more involved and understanding of.

So, about me...

I'm 27 and live in Manchester UK, I work for the NHS in the Emergency Ambulance Service which I absolutely love, I have a little boy aged 6 whom I bring up on my own, like I say I'm not really interested in a specific teaching/branch yet.

I'm really looking forward to my time chatting here and hope I will be able to give back as much as I learn.

So hopefully speak to you all soon...

Hi, Nathan.

Welcome to Free Sangha.  Good to see someone in emergency response field joining us.  I worked in Environmental Health and Safety for over thirty years.  ER, Safety, Hazardous Materials Response, and Fire Departments all worked with us to keep the folks with whom we worked safe and secure.

What Makes an Elder? :
A head of gray hairs doesn't mean one's an elder. Advanced in years, one's called an old fool.
But one in whom there is truth, restraint, rectitude, gentleness,self-control, he's called an elder, his impurities disgorged, enlightened.
-Dhammpada, 19, translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu.
