This title keeps poping up for me, so I'm thinking that maybe I should read it.

Of the available translations, does anyone have a recommendation

Recs for commentaries would be great, too.

TIA

The one translated by Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche
edited by Ani K. Trinlay Chodron
Snow Lion Publications
ISBN 1-55939-092-1

For those of you unfamiliar with this text it covers Buddha Nature, Lam Rim (4 Thoughts), Refuge & Bodhicitta, the Six Perfections, the Five Paths and Ten Bhumis.

Gompopa is best known as Milarepa's main disciple and the first Karmapa's teacher. But before studying with Milarepa he was a Kadampa monk, and this text reflects his Kadam contribution to the Kagyu tradition.

Warning: I'm enough of a fundamentalist Tibet style Buddhist to believe that for the last 1,000 years Tibet has produced a handful of enlightened masters in every generation. I do not ask that YOU believe it, but it will greatly simplify conversations if you understand that about me. Thanks.
