Wow, I really hate to say this, but Hanzze really seems to drift in and out of a rather inconsistant (and patronizing) pidgin. It is humorous in doses, but when it clogs up all the forums like this it is just annoying (and rather offensive to some I imagine). I understand that we have non-English speakers on the board, but this is rather obviously silly. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance, but as a student of language and pidgin specifically (although not Asian) it seems kind of obvious. Just my cynical, illogical take.Hi Joe, USA A Numba 1, 100 pacent!!
I took my lay vows on Kawn Yin's day two years ago. But the day we had it in out Monastery it was Holloween and a full moon too. It was a great day.

Thanks for sharing. If you have more info, it would be great. So this day is also your renunciation. Do you know who people celebrate it and what is the propose of this day? *smile*

I thought there is no different between renunciation (abstain from unwholesome deeds and livelihood) and keeping or taking vows. *smile*

So two days more for your different "birthday", I guess I understand the celebration already. Kind of reminder, so that we do not fall back in the consciousness of past life (s) (before our special rebirth-day). *smile*Much mudita! May this day be a great motivation for you to put all effort into this new life!
