Delete my account
« on: October 14, 2011, 03:06:05 am »
It seems pretty obvious to me that there are at least a few people who have multiple profiles on this board.  I guess this is to be expected on the internet, but it makes me uneasy.  I'd prefer my information be removed, and I cannot seem to find a "Close Account" function or even a way to remove my email address entirely.  "Close Account" isn't even listed in the Help menu.  Please provide that information or just delete my account, please.

Hi lowonthetotem, I would be really disappointed if the voice of reason left.  I enjoy reading your informative posts. Don’t let the turkeys get you down.  Maybe take a break,  before perusing such drastic action.

Multiple accounts are not allowed. If you have any suspicions about sock puppet trollery, PM me and I'll check if IP addresses match. If puppet accounts are found they will be deleted and it could also lead to a ban for the puppet master.

We removed the account deletion feature a long time ago because it just made things very confusing. If one doesn't want to participate, the easiest thing is to just not login.

That is not my job.  I would at least prefer that any information of mine, especially email, be made unavailable.

Don't worry to much. Feelings are not lasting and our ideas are often not very real. *smile*

Honestly, a forum without a delete account function seems as oppressive as someone with multiple accounts as well as a reluctance to accept responsibility for what you have chosen to create here.

We mostly search for a object for our unpleasant felling, I would not search for other failures. I am sure you find some info's in the "agreement" you used to accept.
How ever, to be grateful is mostly better for one self as to claim after we had used a donated service and others free work.

I know we don't believe it, but the emotions are not constant and after a while we are ashamed about some things if we let our feeling lead our selfs.

*smile*

Tomorrow is different, give it a rest. You saw already, there are many who would miss you. So dont let feeling apart you from them.

No, it's not your job, but if you suspect multiple accounts and you're bothered by it, the matter could easily be settled by PMing me the accounts you suspect.

Your email is unavailable to regular members. In your profile you have the possibility to enable or disable if they can email you but if you allow it, it still goes through an email form which doesn't reveal your email to them.

Honestly, a forum without a delete account function seems as oppressive as someone with multiple accounts as well as a reluctance to accept responsibility for what you have chosen to create here.

I beg to disagree.

Honestly, lowonthetotem, I don't think this is the case.  Administrators and moderators can check IPs and sock puppets don't generally last more than a few hours, if that.

Rather than sock puppet accounts, we may be witnessing multiple manifestations of the same troubled mind.  :)  Kind of like the Karmapas -- only, instead of two great Dharma teachers we get -- well, you know what we get, have gotten, and have. ...  No, I don't really believe that either, but it would at least be more interesting than the current situation.

It seems the ignore button has only given partial and temporary relief.

You see, there are so many possibility to run away from your feelings. Everybody has his movies. *smile*  Just take the way which is lesser harmful for you and others. *smile*

Maybe there is also another solution to get rig of it. Patient with one self is maybe one way.

Because the trolls are digging up very old threads to flood, it may seem, for example, that 'Dharmakara' and 'incognito' are two accounts held by the same person.  However, the old account of 'Dharmakara' has been closed for many months.  An indication of this is the word 'Guest' by the user ID.  The date of the posts is also a give-away, but I know it's very easy to miss these things.

The same applies to my own long dead account of 'Yeshe Zopa' .

While this flooding of threads is taking place I see no purpose in posting, but have done so here to clarify a potential misunderstanding.   Rebirth really does happen here! LOL :)
