messagin problem
« on: August 07, 2010, 08:05:44 pm »
After several attempts, I had to give up on sending a PM to Oggie. The error message was

Unable to find member 'ogyen chodzom'.

(That's a cut and paste, so should be exact)
Sergeant Schultz was onto something.

Notice that in her profile name, 'O" is replaced with "0" [ZERO].

If you click on Members in the toolbar above, she is the first member.

Ah - mystery solved. I thought it was a bug and kept having to find her name on a post and click on the message icon. Shame the zero doesn't appear with a slash inside so we can tell the difference more easily.

Same problem with twos, sevens, and zeds.  In the military we used the line-through symbols for purpose of clarity.  Ditto with the twenty-four hour clock.

What Makes an Elder? :
A head of gray hairs doesn't mean one's an elder. Advanced in years, one's called an old fool.
But one in whom there is truth, restraint, rectitude, gentleness,self-control, he's called an elder, his impurities disgorged, enlightened.
-Dhammpada, 19, translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu.
