Title: moving on ?
Post by: reef on June 21, 2013, 12:27:59 am
It seemd that the moderators on this site are moving on....i wonder why ? I would just like to say that i myself will refrain from posting on here anymore but will lurk in the background daily to remind me how NOT to treat fellow humans .....for those of you who come here to learn as i did i wish you knowledge and hope you discover what you need to know ...i also wish you love ....for those of you who come here to mock and argue i wish you peace and love and the strength to learn to love .......

The only moderator leaving as far as I know, gives his reason - no need to wonder  :namaste:

I am going to take some time off from on-line forums.

Two new moderators have arrived. One is me, though I prefer the term immoderate . . .  :)
. . . the other is being vetted by the strict procedure used on me . . . which went something like, 'no one else will do it - you are in'

Thanks for the kind wishes.
As well as logging in to see our unskilful ways, you might consider providing examples of right speech and any knowledge you come across elsewhere . . . I need all the inspiration and good examples I can find . . .  :hi:

My condolences about your lost pet. Although the death of all living things is guaranteed, it really sucks when companions die in our company.

Regarding the other topic: it is coincidence only that Spiny and I depart at the same time. I've been thinking about it for awhile. I "dabble" with accepting the 8 precepts for several days at a time, and I want to experiment with longer periods. Moderating an online forum is a lot of work, and it is one of a few responsibilities I need to be clear of before making an earnest effort.

Most moderators, in a short amount of time, turn into censors.

Power corrupts.
I for one will resist all efforts to remove, to judge etc.
. . . already I feel a strong urge to delete all my posts . . .

Most of us I feel, can help by editing our inclination, errors and tendency to see ourselves as right and righteous. How wonderful when we become aware of the limited truth we have access to and the value in others limitations and evolving self moderation . . . :om:

I removed a couple off-topic posts and am locking the thread.  reef had his say, thought better of it, nuff said.

This forum is for  moderator contact not discussion of moderators or other (defunct) boards.

Thanks for being aware of the corrupting nature of power.

Dharma lesson for our observing, now in progress.

May all know Peace.  :grouphug:
