Right Speech?
« on: April 23, 2011, 02:40:31 pm »

I don’t recall on any mailing list of which I am a member, seeing Mods allowing (and thereby supporting) the deliberate disparaging of a person on another list.  A bit sad really – not to mention breaching the Precept on Right Speech.

Kind regards,
Chris

Thank you, Chris, for your concern. Please send me a PM about the post you are concerned about. Some items have been moved already, I don't know if you mean one of those, or one still visible. I also think the person you are referring to is not actually a mod, but if there is an action by a mod you are concerned about, we are discussing behind the scenes and I will forward your concern.

Thanks MM.  Yes I see that some have been moved.

I think there are one or two posts which still mention (or allude to) the Mod Elsewhere's name.  Maybe even just taking the actual name out?  Whatever you think is acceptable (or not), is O.K. by me - .

I had some time to clean up that thread. It's a beautiful day here in the Pacific NorthWest, one of the first. We've taken the dogs out to the river for some fun. The consequence: I'll be a bit slower in responding to the urgent and emergent needs of the forum...

Speech is speech ....

Right, Wrong, Good, Bad .....

All labels just a means to set oneself up as Judge and Jury.  Interfere, interlope, intercede, interject .....

Sorry, there is no Constitutional, International, or Universal Right to be free of being offended ....

I'm all about the thick skins. But as you say, the people with thick skins are also least likely to stir up an argument. For the rest, that's why we have rules.
