Cool!   :D
What Makes an Elder? :
A head of gray hairs doesn't mean one's an elder. Advanced in years, one's called an old fool.
But one in whom there is truth, restraint, rectitude, gentleness,self-control, he's called an elder, his impurities disgorged, enlightened.

I didn't do very much. I just loaded some files on a server. It's all the members that are making this place what it is. This forum would be nothing without all you guys.  :namaste:  Also special thanks to my co-admin and the mod gang!

It's nice to log on and see that the forum is evolving and thriving on it's own.

Thank you, freesangha.

My feelings exactly!

After the demise of esangha, I jumped around a few forums. All of them are very nice and the members very welcoming, but they tend to specialize in one "type" of Buddhism. The thing that I always liked about esangha was the ability to see how the different branches looked at the same subject. That's one thing thing that I feel Freesangha has going for it. Keep up the good work!!

I agree, but this is so much better than eSangha, which most certainly did not enable any breadth of view - it had a list of 'banned' topics and organisations in the ToS and the management of threads was not Moderation, it was Censorship.  Zen Forum International arose after Zen practitioners were also crushed by the eSangha pogroms.

This forum is a huge improvement on such behaviour. Well done to the tream. :)

Exactly!

That's why I always wore my aluminum foil helmet and grounded my sandals.  They were always watching me.  Watching, watching, always watching me, I tell ya!  And then there was that thing they stuck in the base of my medula oblongatta.  Only the dog and I knew that it was there.  We first learned about it  during one of the "House" episodes when they were performing an MRI for amyloidosis.  :wacky:

Shssssss!  I have to stop now.  I think I detect something coming in from the dog's tail!  :lipsseald:

Thank you, freesangha.

I am just coming up for air after many weeks & months of stressful labors, and am trying -- in a relaxing, but attentive way -- to catch up on some of the main threads here at FS.

I would like to echo Ngawang Drolma's thanks to Wonky Badger (and also to co-admin 0gyen Chodzom and our moderators) for this site, and for making it work.  This is exactly the sort of discussion group I have been seeking.  I am sorry that e-sangha has been destroyed (I do hope it returns in some form and will probably rejoin)  and that Buddhist-Community seems hopelessly adrift, but even when they were working well (was B-C ever? not sure), I did not feel as at home at those sites as I do here.  Perhaps this was because ES and BC are/were so much larger, but I think it has more to do with the people we have here now.

I've just read through most of the "Buddhist Violence" thread, and the thoughtfulness and reflection of our members is quite something.  I have not joined in on that discussion, but I think it is one of the best going.  I am learning.

Kudos to you all.  And a grateful thank you.  Let's keep this place up and running, secure and healthy.  I love it!!!

You guys are also a lot of fun!

heybai
