Found this symbol beneath several posts next to <Report to Moderator>: < Logged >, which is a linked icon indicating a geometric progression of some kind.It appears to have something to do with one's IP Address according to the following message which appears as a pop-up when the link is depressed:QuoteYour IP address is shown only to you and moderators. Remember that this information is not identifying, and that most IPs change periodically. You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours.Close windowWhat does this do?Why does it appear on some posts and not all posts?Just curious and wondering if there is some new function which may be useful to me and others.
Thanks for the reply, Yeshe'. I remember the sock-puppet episode on another online service. Forgot. Part of letting go, I suppose, only in this case due to holes in the hippocampus. (The organ responsible for short term memory that is at the center of our brain, not the lodgings for large aquatic equines in Africa.)
As admin, if clicking on the "logged/IP address" it opens up a small report showing which members have posted from that IP address and what errors have been reported from there, like failed logins. That way we can easily see if someone is posing as two or more members, and also if they have tried to hijack other's accounts by just guessing their password. We usually don't dig around in the info about members unless we have good reasons though.
