Kadhampa Green Sect
« on: August 23, 2011, 10:49:27 am »
I have recently read a letter from the Kadhapma Green Sect to the Dalai Lama and can find very little about them except that they say they are a lineage traced back to Atisha, and that they adhere to the traditional practices of the same Masters as the NKT and the Gelugpas who practice Dorge Shugden, whom they call the 'King Possessing Strength'.

The founder is apparently Serkong Tritul Tulku.

I think much of what I was looking for is in the Chinese language and may relate to Singapore and Taiwan, and they apparently have a branch in Australia, but that's all I can discover.

Thanks. :)

I think I found a related website --

http://kadhampa.org/

A button up top for "English" leads to a dead link, however.

There is this contact info page in the Chinese version and I think some of this can be read in "English" --

http://kadhampa.org/addressbook.htm

They have a forum! (again in Chinese) --

http://bbs.kadhampa.org/

They do seem to be most active in Taiwan but they have centers/branches in many parts of SE Asia and Australia.  I've never heard of them but then Taiwan is lousy with Buddhist groups (I didn't say lousy Buddhist groups!  :D), and there is plenty around here I don't understand.

I think the "Green" in "Green Sect" stands for Green Tara.

They have a local chapter in my country and just last Dec, they had a huge relic exhibition which I went out of curiosity. There was a small media war between the organisers and the local Buddhist Council here over the validity of their lineage and the relics themselves. Yes, as what Su Dongpo has pointed out, their website had an English section which I went through before but am not sure why it went dead of late.

Anyway, for more on the issue, look here & here

I agree completely with the next post, as it was exactly the same as this one was before I deleted it and it somehow double-posted itself .

It's simply not good enought that these Gremlins escape from the Hell realms, have a bath and a midnight feast and then just sit inside my PC just waiting to pounce!

Thanks all. :)

@ t : I think I remember the threads at Dharma Wheel about the relics exhibition.

It looks, reading between the lines, that it's the Shugden issue which was really behind that rucus.

I once attended a very 'legitimate' Maitreya Project relics exhibition, mainly gallstones etc. rescued form the funerals of the good and the great, and some of Tsongkhapa's robe.   It seemed fine, but I have since discovered that the project itself allegeldy has some dodgy land deals etc in India.

@ Su Dongpo :  Now if I was looking for a missing link between this organisaiton in Taiwan and the one in Hawaii..............................you're busted!  LOL :)

They do seem to have spread well in countries with a large enough population of Chinese speakers, so maybe one will pop up in London.

@dhammaseeker51: That green tea is powerful juju!   Just look what happened when it hit the USA - first they had the Boston Tea Party and now...................Sarah Palin! LOL :)

Thanks. :)

The relic exhibition was hard to assess, but I gues they are all of that nature.

It seemed odd to hear chanting in Sanskrit instead of Tibetan.  I like to chant in Sanskrit whan I can. :)
