We'd like to begin the post by saying that FS is going through a big change. A lot of change in how things are done staff-wise. As of now, Admin duties are going to be done by myself. Daphne has stepped down for the time being to do regular moderator duties. Our staff has also been shrunken to only a few mods.

Current mods are:

Caz
Monkeymind
Daphne

Right now we are streamlining a process that will only improve the quality of Freesangha as a regular member. Mods will now have a TOS of their own, and will have to abide by rules just like you.

Since the 1990s, I have maintained that moderators are, essentially, themselves without guidelines who without realizing it become censors. A perfect example of is the now defunct E-sangha. It was blatantly censorial. It's nice to see FS will have TOS for moderators which, I hasten to add, is quite innovative (maybe a first).

It is a strange thing. I went almost a year without censoring anything aside from obvious spam. (And there is a lot of spam, it keeps me busy.) Currently we are experiencing an increase in the use of the "Report Post" feature. We are spending a lot of time comparing posts against our TOS and our stated values. We don't have any easy answers.

We don't delete anything, when a post is removed we save it in an area not available to the public. And the moderators review each others work, to keep each other honest.

Nobody can hug me as well as I can...
