Ok, you guys beat me to it, but here goes:

I use to find it through google but now I have the URL memorized so it is really easy.
 ;D :cheesy: ;D :cheesy:  ;D :cheesy:

FS: as good and is imperfect as its members.

It isn't for everyone and some people have moved on.

On the Heybai Dharma Index it gets 3 1/2 our of 5 possible stars.

What no "stars" smileys????

Make that three stars.

Nice to keep in mind:

The site is owned and moderated by people who volunteer their energy, time and money, and who for the most part have full-time jobs, and young families to care for.  This necessarily means the site sometimes has to come in second (or fifth) on a day's duty roster.  All in all, I think these folks have provided a venue, care and service which has already been a great benefit to many people living in far-flung places.

OK, I talked myself in to four out of five stars --

Hmmm... I think this poll is rigged. I opened this thread, and it automatically selected the first option as my choice*. I actually send FS hate mail, daily.  :cheesy:

*It might be a browser thing.... Accessing from my iPhone.

I have it bookmarked on my phone.

I don't get much time to look on the Internet and I spent a long time looking at various Buddhist forums before I joined here without joining any.

I liked the way members on this generally engaged with each other and their seems to be less people (although it's not devoid of them altogether) insuating they have some kind of attainment than on other Buddhist forums, here it seems to be more like we're all chipping in and learning from each other so yes, all in all I like Freesangha a lot.

My only real gripe is that personally I think there are too many topics and it takes a while to look through them all, but that's not meant to be negative it's just a pain in the bum when you have limited time. Other than that it's all good.

I just want to say a quick thankyou to those of you that have made me welcome here at Freesangha.

Alas, I have decided that the reasons I didn't join a Buddhist forum for so long have been justified in my short time here and it is with that in mind that I bit you farewell as I leave to concentrate on my practice.

Thankyou.

This is pretty much the only board I've joined and I must say, It's a great site. Bookmarked. A nearly constant open tab.

I love reading the comments, debates, etc. I've learned a lot through this site.

Many thanks to the good people who run this site. To enhance the ol' self-cherishing attitude, you totally rock.

If you are in my area, I make a great vegan mushroom & wild rice pilaf. If you are in Caz's neighborhood, he serves tea and biscuits. But we haven't figured out the snack options for such an international crowd.

I am brand new to this forum as of today....In the 90's I belonged to one forum and
it was awesome for the chat back and forth about various authors and books read
along with personal stories of our practice and personal land mines that we have
run into during our practice.  What has happened in the past 13 years is that YouTube
has so many tubes that relate to the authors and speakers along with meditation music,
both guided and not guided.  You can spend hours on the YouTube going from
tube to tube and end up with a hunger that is not shared with anyone...I miss the
sharing of members and then made the decision to join up....I have only read a few
posts and will reserve any feedback until I get my feet wet here at Freesangha....

On a similar note, I still haven't figured if "OP" is reference to the post or the person posting it, but on the other hand it was only a few years ago that I figured out the meaning of ROFLMAO

Hi Riju.

You can view your own posts (or the posts of other members) your/their profile page --- just click on the "Show Posts" link that's displayed on the left side of the page.

How are you finding Freesangha ? One Budpartionazi goes and a "new" come... like Samsara  :D or

Krabat (English dub trailer) - Accent Films (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2_CXLtHXGU#ws)

We still work on common liberation and iddhi to make samsara to a land of milk and honey where would be no need to try to escape :wink1:

I can only speak to my experiences in other forums, where OP is original poster, but as there can be many meanings to any acronym, this can also be the case

My highest compliments to the dedication put in educating and increasing awareness on how to practice the Dharma, my experience here have been most thought provoking and beneficial to my personal perspective on what it means to practice. May all living beings be closer to liberation as an indirect karmic result of this forums impact on my behavior pattern. :namaste:

My impressions so far, and I've only just visited this website and have been present here very briefly, is I've seen lots of contentious argumentation that exists elsewhere on the internet as well, the same sorts of people attacking other people and bickering over everything, treating people with no dignity or respect, throwing around scripture like its an implement for bashing heads in. This is what I've noticed so far, that the most active voices are the most belligerent and hostile. I've noticed other things which have shocked or surprised me, often these people are not seeming to be Buddhists or really respectful of Buddhism or Buddhists at all, it seems like they have just taken on a certain form of boxing with a certain brand of boxing gloves and really don't care so long as they see blood gush from the noses of people they have punished for ever opening their mouths. These people appear to be a kind of demon, not the nice kind like you or me, but the really irritating sort that actually is working, perhaps inadvertently, to turn people away from the Dharma or happily hearing good things, to make people sad and unhappy instead, which punching people in the face might tend to do generally, even when digital and metaphorical. Such should be removed from their efforts to try to teach, because they are driving away people and giving a bad name to everything we work to do.

I've also seen a tendency towards Western Atheistic Converts or Flirters with Buddhism to go on a rampage against those who are sympathetic to more mystical "weirdo" ideas and traditions. I don't think that is very nice at all to see, over-valuing something they think is "older" as permission to defecate on thousands of years of additional tools well intended to help people find medicine for various things.

So it is my advice to banish these sorts of people who make themselves quite obvious with their ill-mannered ways of treating people. Not me of course, even if I satirize them, I should be completely spared of any repercussions.

Here's one, Spiny Norman. But then again, I have my own view of what Theravada should be. I prefer to be as close to Buddha's original teachings as possible.

Rahul, can you make a thread about your personal ideas and practices and in what way you are what you say here you are? I am not questioning the validity of your statement, I just would like to know more in detail, maybe in a thread separate from this or one of mine.
