The FreeSangha poetry contest (rules and discussion)
« on: April 26, 2012, 10:51:57 am »
Now you have the chance to show off your poetic talents in our fantalicious poetry contest. I'm just going to make up the rules and then if anyone feels that they are silly we can discuss changing them.

These are the rules as off now:
1. The contest shall run until the end of the day 31 May, Samoa Standard Time.
2. Each contestant may enter with a maximum of two submissions
3. Entries can be posted in the official entry thread, not this one or if a contestant wish to be anonymous the submission(s) can be posted to me via PM or to wonky@freesangha.com so that I may post it nameless. However, if you win and accept the prize you would have to decloak to still the curiosity of the other members, and so we have proof that we're not trying to keep the prizes for ourselves.  :cheesy:
4. Entries must be original content (we might google them to check for plagiarism).
5. There is no exact minimum or maximum length requirement and the format is free but a general rule could be that it should fit on an A4 or Letter size paper in "normal" size font.
6. If the poem is in any other language than English, it should be accompanied by an English translation.
7. The winner will be decided through voting by the FreeSangha members and a consolation prize will be raffled off among all participants (except the main winner)

The prizes are:
A bronze Amitabha Buddha statuette

Or...

An Imee Ooi CD of your choice (I'll post the available titles soon)

The winner gets to choose which prize they want and the remaining prize will be the consolation prize.

How about that? Sound fair enough?

Partly. From the beginning it was meant that we would have more of such activities here, but there hasn't really been time and resources for it.

The competition ends tomorrow, but as I'll be away for a couple of days, I'll set up the poll next week.
