Hello everyone  :namaste:

If you may not have seen, we have a new simplified TOS,

I just wanted to set up a thread where we can hear exclusively from our membership about the changes made, If you have any questions please feel free to ask them here, any feedback is also welcome.

I don't think banning meta-discussion entirely is a very good idea. Confining it to a specific area, like a moderation thread, might be better. Otherwise it looks good to me. I think a case could be made for banning attacks on the leaders of recognized sects, or the sects themselves.
Sergeant Schultz was onto something.

I agree with Cat on this one.

I believe it's a practicularly uplifted or enlightened attitude that attacks other religions, traditions, shools or teachers.  I certainly don't think there should be a place allowed anywhere an alignment to the teachings of the Awakened One is claimed.

I think this should apply to Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Pagan or any other belief systems and especially towards various traditions, schools, orders and teachers in the Buddhist world as well.  This should apply even where there may be a percieved reason to do so.

I believe this to be in line with the teachings of the Buddha.

I would go a bit further to say that a strongly worded welcome should be published to any Buddhist, regardless of affiliation.

Yes this is already covered in section 1 under self moderation and Right Speech. Any type of "Verbal Attack" on anyone would be a breach of TOS, whether they are a sect leader or just an ordinary member.

We discussed this before the ToS was posted.  Note the wording "refrain from" and "may result" in disciplinary actions.  Meta-discussion is really a variety of off-topic discussion, and may be casual and innocent in many cases.   The point is not to get bogged down in discussion about the discussion.   It's not an out-right ban per se though -- just a reminder to stick to the subject matter of each thread.
