Theme Makeover
« on: January 13, 2010, 11:42:45 am »
^ Vote today!!

We have been tossing around the idea of changing the theme at FreeSangha, since we're just stuck on the default.  However, due to the administrators technical knowledge on themes and templates (i.e. very limited knowledge), we haven't decided on a color scheme yet.  If any of you are technically inclined or have a preference of color schemes I'm putting up a poll so you can give us some feedback on a color scheme for usage of the forum before we decide.

here is a site of SMF themes.

http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/

We were thinking a theme called Green Ornamental

Since you also have to look at the site every time you log in, we'd like to know what you think before finalizing our decision!

Please specify if you find any (SMFcompatible) themes that you think might be particularly fitting to FreeSangha, post a link or an image!

If you need any help with theme aspects I would be more then happy to offer my assistance. I don't have the time to do a fully customizable theme but would be more then happy to take a theme you all like and just tweak the heck out of it to give this site a unique look based on some theme you like. I have worked extensively with SMF, phpBB, and vBulletin as far as forums go and a number of other systems for website based systems.

To be brutally honest, I think that green theme is terribly ugly. I like green, just not those puke green shades. Reminds me of bad furniture from the 70's.

Of course, many ugly websites have done very well, while some other more aesthetically pleasing ones have failed. And the board software does have the option to select another theme in the user options, so I guess if people really don't like it they can change it there.

Sounds good! Just thinking quickly, what would probably suit this site is colors that are more earth tone based. What gets difficult about multiple themes is when installing modifications you sometimes have to code them for each theme which can be quite time consuming, not impossible if you go light on the modifications though.

Just drop me a message any time you are ready :)

I put down green but I think mixing it with tans, light browns, and colors that are more earth toned would fit the site well.
