And maybe at the bottom add Topic to Previous and Next so it reads Previous Topic Next Topic or is that too much? :D

I'll see what I can do. It might be possible. Although I find those  "« previous next »" on the right to be a pretty useless feature. Does anybody actually read all forum topics one by one from top downwards? Anyway clarifying that it is topics, not pages, would make things less frustrating.

One suggestion: On the left side where it shows our user name, post count, etc, it might be helpful to add the date we joined (if possible).

Yes!  Open a "You said!/Did not!" section and have the moderators relocate all of the posts that are nothing but petty bickering.  You can call it "The Ego Zone"!

Unfortunately I couldn't find an addon like that for this version of SMF. If we upgrade in the future it might be possible.

This is not an entirely shabby idea...  Can I put my ego there?

Suggestion for "making this forum more nice":

Please, please, please allow for the disabling of smilies/emoticons.

I don't think I can participate much otherwise, and I'd like to.

Hi there,

More secure or nice... I'd say just ensure you've got backups - because one day someone will do something to it.

Thank you for such a brilliant forum.

I think it would be nice if we could see who's online like at the bottom of the screen.  But that's just a little thing, no big deal  :)  Right now you have to scroll through all the members to see who's on, I think.

Best,
Laura

And I think you can only see who's online on the home page.   Let me dig around and see if there's an option for that... if I don't find one, Hakan will need to assist...

EDIT:  The only thing I found I could change for this is the online/offline status under the avatar.  I enabled it so we can see who is on and off while posting...

Thanks, Wonky Badger.  It's very much appreciated.

Sometimes eyestrain from "visual clutter" can trigger migraines.  Mostly haven't had those beasts for about a decade, but I have to limit known triggers.  It's always nice when I can adjust a site so that it's easy on the eyes.  I do know how to hit the esc key to stop the moving gif images -- those things are awful for me while trying to read.

Say, you wouldn't happen to be related to that badger (http://bitterrootbadger.wordpress.com/) in Montana would you?

To add my :twocents:

In the spirit of openness and transparency, it would be nice to see all moderator actions logged. Whenever a post or thread is modified or deleted, those actions should be recorded for all to see in a public moderator sub-forum. Also, when a user is banned, the action should be logged and an appeals process established. A 'moderation actions' sub-forum should also allow users to openly debate the moderator's activities, rather than refusing to allow any public questioning of mods as some other forums have done.

I believe this level of transparency, while slightly more work for the moderation team, is more in keeping with Buddhist concepts of openness.
