If "Health, Nutrition and Excercise" (or however its written lol) is renamed to just Lifestyle, then Yoga will no longer be labeled excercise. :)

Hi

I am missing a tibetan buddhism general forum. I find it too restrictive to have to chose a subforum of a specific school of tibetan buddhism.

Kind regards

You don't have to choose a school. You can post directly in the Tibetan Buddhism board where the schools are subforums.

I didn't create some of the subforums from the old e-sangha as I did not know if people were really using them. I will open subforums at request, but if they remain unused, they might be taken away again.
e-sangha suffered much criticism from the TOS that made literal rebirth off limits to challenges. In order to not have a rash of arguments about it, why don't you give a separate forum to those that can't/won't/don't buy the literal interpretation of rebirth?  Give them their own sandbox to play in. :argue:

And make some sort of TOS that keeps people in their own playground, i.e. no cross border trolling. :headwall: If you're in that forum respect their position.

Or maybe just keep the cross-border trolling in the "Danger Zone"!

It's just a thought...

Warning: I'm enough of a fundamentalist Tibet style Buddhist to believe that for the last 1,000 years Tibet has produced a handful of enlightened masters in every generation. I do not ask that YOU believe it, but it will greatly simplify conversations if you understand that about me. Thanks.

Hi, I was wondering why Mahayana is in 'topics in Buddhism', while other forms of Buddhism are in 'traditions'. I don't quite follow the logic.

To be honest, I don't know. It's just a relic from the old e-sangha structure. Maybe we should move it. Opinions?

Sure, I mean, it is a School of Buddhism.  Maybe under Traditions:

Mahayana School of Buddhism General Forum
Theravada School of Buddhism General Forum

East Asian Buddhism
-Ch'an/Seon/Thien/Zen Traditions
-T'ien T'ai/Tendai Traditions

Tibetan Buddhism Tradition
-Nyingma
-Kagyu
-Sakya
-Gelug
-Dzogchen

Vajrayana Tradition
-Mantrayana

Did I miss any?  Let us know.  Just a thought to restructure it so it makes sense... :anjali:

Agreeing, we don't have any real reason to have to cookie cutter e-sangha.

I did not understand the function of the Danger Zone. Excellent!
