"session verification failed" page
« on: March 27, 2011, 04:39:19 pm »
Sometimes when I try to post I get a page that says something like, "Sessions verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, then try again."

I've tried to click on 'logout' but it doesn't log me out.

This happens only sporadically. What's the problem?

Yes, I too have been getting this when trying to reply to PM's, replying to messages, even when trying to log out as the messages suggests.

On the Mac it occurs with Safari and Firefox ......  On both the only fix I've found so far is to manually delete any "cookies" associates with this site. CLose the browser and restart, come to FS and log in.

I frequent other SMF forums and they have no similar issues.

After posting the above, the Session Verification monster grabbed me and clawed me until I gave up all my cookies; again!  Occurring more frequently it seems.

:teehee: it just happened to me, too. As JMc and I are experiencing this at the same time, I wonder if it is an event rather than a process? Also, you mentioned Mac. I'm on Mac/Safari too. SantaM?

I just had a couple myself. And look at the time stamps on the last few posts.

Mac/Safari.

I also get a "Session timed out. Please try to resubmit your post" even if it has only been a second or two.

It has been intermittent over a period of weeks for me. I don't think it is an event. We must've pissed off the wrong spirit!

I've had this experience off and on too. It is interesting to see that 3-4 of us are reporting the same experience at the same time, that's why I'm suggesting some Internet event. As always, I blame conspiracy theroies...

I've also encountered it 2-3 times. I have no idea what could be the cause, but I haven't changed anything in the software in a long time, so it could be server related. I'll google around and see what I can find.

SMF used to have a decent user's forum, but I have been there in more than 2 years. Might check them out for answers.  They used to have issues with new patches adding goofy issues like this ..... (about to press POST button - fingers crossed!)

Ive had It to... :brick:
A man sees the rope in the twilight he mistakenly apprehends a snake and develops fear. To remove this fear he must remove the mind apprehending a snake by realizing that there is no snake. Even then, if the rope is left in the same place there is a danger that the same mistake will be made in the future. The only way to remove this danger is to remove the rope. Similarly, sentient beings observing their aggregates in the darkness of their ignorance mistakenly apprehend an inherently existent I. This mind grasping at an inherently existent I is the root of samsara and the source of all fear. To remove the fears of samsara we must remove this mind by realizing that there is no inherently existent I.

It is almost as if there is a sudden overload when posting, which then crashes it.

I've also has problems with my smartphone, which can't handle the site unless on wifi.

I automatically save the text of any post or pm using 'copy' just in case of a crash, before posting it.

Wonky,

If there is something we need to check into from the host side, let me know and I will be glad to.

Wonky,

I might have been hasty about assuming that it has something to do with the server.

I'm going to see if I can do something based on JMcK's SMF threads. There was some posts there suggesting to update some template files that had added code for session IDs. The problem is that since we have manual edits in our files, I can't just copy over them, but have to manually merge the new code with the old, which might take some planning.

Ok, three times today I have had to delete ALL the Freesangha cookies, logout and then log in.  Getting kind of annoying.

BTW: There appear to be TWO cookies in Safari, but BOTH must be removed to end the error.
