I am not convinced this is not a bug. I'll ask around.

I just checked regular member settings, and you are able to modify your own posts, that permission is enabled.  Please advise if you continue to experience issues.

At first they let us modify at any time, but then there was one guy that would be called on some b.s. and then modified his post to say something different. In other words one person abused the privilege. So they changed it. He's since been banned, I believe.
Warning: I'm enough of a fundamentalist Tibet style Buddhist to believe that for the last 1,000 years Tibet has produced a handful of enlightened masters in every generation. I do not ask that YOU believe it, but it will greatly simplify conversations if you understand that about me. Thanks.

I checked the settings and it was set to 3 hours. I don't know if that was an install default or if it was set after that incident you mentioned. Anyway, I disabled it for now, so it should be possible for you to edit your posts whenever. I haven't discussed this with the rest of the staff so it might be, if they have objections, that we'll enable the timer again.

There is also a "Courtesy edit wait time" of 90 seconds. If edited before that, the post will not be logged as edited, but if edited afterwards it will state the date and time that it was last edited. There is also a small box where you can enter the reason for editing, which I would encourage you to use to avoid misunderstandings or suspicion by other members in heated topics.
My actions are my only true belongings.
I cannot escape the consequences of my actions.
My actions are the ground on which I stand.

...but now I don't have any excuses for my bad grammar and punctuation! I've been exposed!

Things seem back in place  ... thank you! Maybe no one will abuse it

No one should be responsible for their bad grammer ... she's old enough to know better.

You can always install a spell-checker.  :-P

There is a spell check next to your post button.  If you look down, you'll see Post, Preview, Spell Check.

Courtesy edit WAIT time 90 seconds
Maximum time after posting to allow edit 0 (this means it's disabled and you can edit any post any time any where that you posted)

I don't know why you can't post after a few hours that is strange.

Will update.

I have briefly browsed this thread and it appears, that in the last few days, this phenomena has struck again. I no longer seem to have the 'modify' button.
