Jittery quote function
« on: April 22, 2010, 09:42:49 am »
While trying to block a quote larger than the window provided, I could not drag the blocking below the bottom border of the window.  I found a tiresome way around by manually writing the [/quote] at the end. But even then, the bottom part of the quote kept disappearing as the window kept leaping upward and not staying with the cursor.

Fixable?

The technical folks haven't been able to resolve the problem as yet.  The problem seems to be associated with the emoticons, which I am told can be turned off in your profile view.  But, emoticons are fun.  So you may want to use the following workaround.

The work around is to use a word program to compose, copy, then paste into the post window.
What Makes an Elder? :
A head of gray hairs doesn't mean one's an elder. Advanced in years, one's called an old fool.
But one in whom there is truth, restraint, rectitude, gentleness,self-control, he's called an elder, his impurities disgorged, enlightened.
-Dhammpada, 19, translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu.

Thanks 2010, but I hate fun - so I will turn them off and see what happens.

That's an Internet Explorer bug, but not something I've experienced in Firefox, Chrome, or Opera.  Turning off smileys indeed can help resolve the issue.  But it doesn't always work.

I'll have to do some research to see if there's a fix for this...

Yes I am using IE, but the smiley-free window does not hop, skip or jump - so I am good with that.

how does on turn of the smileys as described.  If I click ht "don't use smileys" checkbox under additional options on the reply page the textbox is still jittery.

I'm using ie8 btw.
