« on: April 20, 2010, 10:38:27 am »
I checked the box, but when I look on the members list there is the little envelope and my email???

Fixable?

It may be visible to you but hidden to others. Maybe ask a non Mod to check your Profile to see if they can see it; otherwise Wonky Badger or Ogyen Chodzom as Admins should be able to fix. ;)

Good idea; therefore I request anyone online now 10:50 am PST to look at Skull in members list or anywhere else and see if my email address is visible.

You mean I have to abandon omniscience, just as I was getting used to it?!

Hi Skull, and welcome!
About your email address being visible, I just now did go to the Members list, and saw no envelope
beneath your -email-.

Could you do the same for me.
I like my email address to be hidden, but I am not really sure if it is. :namaste:

Thanks Skull!
It is confusing to see an envelope under one's own email on the members list.
I hope you are going to enjoy Free Sangha.  :namaste:

When I am here I am sure I will; I even liked E-Sangha.

When I am here I am sure I will; I even liked E-Sangha.

I took a little swipe at e-sangha earlier today and then regretted it.  I met many new friends there and I continue some of those friendships on this forum.  There were many, wonderfully knowledgeable, committed Buddhists who dedicated a million hours toward making that site work for newcomers like me.  I only discovered e-sangha last summer, a few short months before it evaporated.

It's easy to pick on people/institutions/groups when they are down (no pun intended), but it is worth recalling -- is it Shantideva, or the boddhisattva vows where I encountered this? -- the injunction against waiting in ambush for those who have caused us some distress (in my case the distress was quite trivial, but we all heard of other stories, etc. etc.).   For me the experience at e-sangha was 95% positive.  I wish it were so for others, although I know it was not always.

Sorry for the off-topic post.  This comment reminded me of some thoughts from earlier in the day.

Like all the most exciting relationships, perhaps sometimes it was love-hate.

Sure learned a lot there though.

if your email is in italics and appears abc@xyz.com it means it's hidden.  Otherwise the font of your email address will display normally.  The envelope simply represents that an email is entered.
