Trouble accessing Free Sangha via Google
« on: March 13, 2011, 08:14:25 am »
Hi mods,
Free Sangha appears to have been booted from Google, had to go through 4+ pages of sites and come in through a back door. Any idea what's up?
Thanks,
Justsit

Wonky Badger probably forgot to pay the bills, LOL.

Google is a mysterious friend.  I don't know how it works, or why it (very occasionally) doesn't work the way I expect it to, but I use it every day.

Sorry, that's no help in answering your question though.  I have no idea why FS wouldn't show up.  It used to, but I haven't googled FS for many months.

Well along those lines I have been getting the following error for the passed several days.

Code: [Select]
An Error Has Occurred!
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.
I even get it when trying to log out!! Only solution is to quit the browser and try again.

As to Google, doing a search for Free Sangha this forum does appear but nearly half-way down a long list and that is a reference to "FreeSangha Member Survey 2010".

When searching on "Free Sangha" it shows the forum in links 3,4,5,6 ....

Searching on "Freesangha" it shows the forum in link 8 .... but all those above that are the forum on twitter and  facebook ....

...i found there was no "i" anywhere.....

There's probably a good commercial reason why the site's Facebook and Twitter accounts appear above the actual site.  I don't believe it is based on hits - more likely based on how much they paid Google.

Google is a fickle beast. It's very hard to know what one does right or wrong as the results might not show until months afterwards. I have no idea why our search engine position would have changed. But it even differs depending on which national version of Google you use. It's very hard work to get a top placement in Google. It takes a lot of time and effort. Well, time at least. I guess a good site would reach the top without effort if one just waits long enough.

I cannot escape the consequences of my actions.
My actions are the ground on which I stand.
