Hello all,
I am going on a camping trip and I would like to hang up prayer flags around the exterior of my tent.  Because I will be backpacking, I was wondering if it is acceptable to take down prayer flags once they have been hung? I would most likely fold them neatly and store them with malas and other auspicious items in a special cloth.   Either way, these flags are very sacred and I do not wish to do anything disrepectful out of ignorance.

Many thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank and welcome to FreeSangha.

I'm not aware of any prohibition against taking down prayer flags once they've been hung, provided that you're the person who hung the flags to begin with. Also, depending on where you're camping, you might not actually have any choice other than to remove them as you prepare to leave your camp site, for example, if the camp site is located on State or Federally managed forestry and land.
