fall asleep into meditations!
« on: August 27, 2013, 10:58:14 am »
Dear forum members,

I have a lot of sleppy mornings. I usually wake up at 5 or 6 o'clock. i wake up after 10-15 minutes i sit and start meditate.
but I often can't meditate if i don't drink a few coffee. i don't know why. my coffee isn't very strong and i drink only a few. and don't drink everyday. when i don't drink coffee i can't meditate always, only i can sometimes. or a little more than sometimes.
i had a long time (almost a year) when i didn't drank coffee. in that time i could meditate without coffee. but in the present i often can't meditate if i don't drink a few coffee. i wouldn't drink coffee. i wouldn't like if i would addict the coffee again...
i can meditate at mornings, late afternoons and early evenings.
how can i always become awake without coffee? do you know a technique? Yoga? or anything?

Sleep is not a toy. By not sleeping fully, you will hurt yourself. If you are sleepy, then go to sleep. Second thing is the fact that people that drink coffee feel after drinking it in the same way as people that doesn't drink coffee at all. Thus it is the best to not drink coffee in the morning at all. Your body is not a lazy bag of flash of bones that needs a kick to wake up. It sleep because it needs to regenerate, and settle all mental problems you have. If you fall asleep while sitting, you definitely need more sleep.

When you still need a tool, there is nothing wrong using it.

Drinking coffee is just like using a tool.

If it helps, why not?

Probably after sometime you can change to tea.

And slowly after your meditation is correct, then you can start to be independent from tea or coffee.

If you have sleep enough, and still feel sleepy, your inner energy is not Well balanced.

You can practice yantra yoga to balance it.

If your inner energy is balance, everything will run smoothly.

Actually, meditation itself is also a method to balance your iinner energy. Those who practice meditation frequently will have a balanced energy.

However, meditation is using mind to affect inner energy.

Yoga is using physical body to affect inner energy.

And yoga is easier in this way. For example, you won't feel sleepy with yoga and yet your inner energym can get balance.

Meditation although ultimately can balance your energy, but during the process itself, sleepiness can be very challenging.

After sometimes, sleepiness will not become a problem again. But this is after many months of coninuous practice.

When we verbally indicate a thing as 'this' or 'that', our words, like rabbits's horns, are hollow names, mere fictive imputation upon what does not exist. (Longchenpa)

Of course do yoga  :smack:

I would probably start the meditation with a mantra, which gets the blood and brain back in gear or standing meditation tai chi style or walking meditation or prostrations as meditation. Or I might do Hatha yoga real slow. Or martial arts kata or qi ong.

Yoga will help you sleep better and invigorate the mind/body complex.
Try three 'salutations to the sun' instead of caffeine for a few weeks.

Let us know what you decide and how it works out.

start with prostrations that is a good idea, i will try it.
i practice walking meditations never. only for thinking sometimes.
i don't know yoga stiles which you said. Can you show a website link about it?

Traditionally it is done early morning. So instead of coffee, before meditation.
