In the larger sense, no. There is no stone.

In the smaller sense -- if you hit me with a stone, the odds are you will not be around afterward to hit anyone else with a stone.

They call it "karma in samsara".

Warning: I'm enough of a fundamentalist Tibet style Buddhist to believe that for the last 1,000 years Tibet has produced a handful of enlightened masters in every generation. I do not ask that YOU believe it, but it will greatly simplify conversations if you understand that about me. Thanks.

No one.
Action One in the moment led to Action Two in the moment which concluded with two inanimate objects on the ground. And the road goes on forever.

If I could go on a tangent for a moment, this reminds me of another story.  I'm like a kid, I really like stories as a way to teach and make a point  :)

Two monks were traveling together.  They reached a river to find a woman struggling in the watery, trying to not get her dress wet.  One monk picked her up and carried her to the shore.  Then they continued on their way.

The first monk's traveling companion was fuming.  Being monks, they were not supposed to touch women!  Finally he could contain himself no longer and he blurted out to his fellow monk, "Why did you carry that woman back at the river's bank?  You broke your vows!  I don't understand why you did that!"  The other monk replied, "Brother, I set that woman down a long time ago, back at the river's edge.  Why are you still carrying her?"

A master had three students.   He was about to retire and wanted a succesor.   He then devised a test. "Whoever gives the best answer, will be the new Master!" So he held out his hand whith a stone in his palm, and asked," What is it?"  The first student said, "It's a stone."  The second said," It's the Universe."   The third, took the stone and threw it away.   The master looked at him and said, "Here is the new master."
I am he as you are he and we are all together.

I tried editing some typos, etc in my post about Simple Chang but the modify button was gone. It was removed instead and one can find the story in Dharma Express, where I posted it on its own with corrections.  :gawrsh:

A new stone is created each time a mind thinks 'stone'.

Not from the stones point of view. :wink1:

"Well then",observed Hogen,"Your head must feel very heavy if you spend all your time carrying around a large stone like that in your mind."

So forget everything you think you know, it's like laying down a heavy weight.  Next? :wink1:
