« on: February 01, 2012, 03:00:20 pm »
Wislawa Szymborska a Noble Prize Polish Poet died a few hours ago... Ji Jang Bosal!

What is death?

where is my native Szymborska? Where shall I go when I die?
My father, Jehova Witness, lost his wife last year(cancer),  told me that there is nothing after death but still he wants to go her grave...

Depends on your deeds and your mental tendency. *smile* Nothing comes from nothing, how could it end in nothing? Its an ongoing becoming and decay.

Where do you go, when you fall asleep?

When I fall asleep, I go to bed.
When you die, where will you go?

Among the many beings seen in the morning
Some are not seen in the evening

You dwell among the causes of death
Like a butter lamp standing in a strong breeze

It is not good for people to say,
"I'll put it off until tomorrow and do this today"
A tomorrow when you are gone
Will undoubtedly come.

I am not
and nor are the dead.
Concern yourself with life and living.
Death comes soon enough.

Quote
Subject to birth, subject to aging,
subject to death,
run-of-the-mill people
are repelled by those who suffer
from that to which they are subject.
And if I were to be repelled
by beings subject to these things,
it would not be fitting for me,
living as they do.

As I maintained this attitude —
 knowing the Dhamma without paraphernalia
— I overcame all intoxication
with health, youth, & life
as one who sees
renunciation as rest.

For me, energy arose,
Unbinding was clearly seen.
There's now no way
I could partake of sensual pleasures.
Having followed the holy life,
I will not return.

"There are these five facts that one should reflect on often, whether one is a woman or a man, lay or ordained. Which five?
Subjects for Contemplation
